May as well kick this pig off with the truck that started it all for me. It’s not a pre-60s hotrod/custom that I prefer to play with, but it’s a car that’s near and dear to my heart.

Backstory:

Let’s go back to ~2007. I was in high school and baggy pants were cool (ish) and I was sure as hell not. After my first car (2wd 1985 Chevy Suburban <3) started showing some weakness in the winter, my loving folks found a good deal on a 2wd Chevy S10 (my bowtie addiction continues to this day). Before the ink was dry on the paperwork, dad located a 2/3 drop from the previous owner, cheap enough my after-school job could pay for. Step 1 on car addiction. That Christmas I got lowering spindles and springs to take it to a 4/5 drop. Shortly after my drugstore job paid for some rims and neon (God forgive me for my early 2000s neon sins). Well time went by and after a few years I moved to New England and inspection laws there were a bit different and not lowrider friendly. The dime went into deep storage.

The Resurrection

Fast forward 12 years, my beauty wife and I moved back to PA and I decided to dig the dime out of storage. It had been sitting for ~10 years and was in no shape to start. Pinned in the 1/2 part of a 2 1/2 stall garage, it took about 2 hours to exhum. From there it was a matter of “how the f* do we get it to the shop”, which was about 5 miles away.

After some pricing of options (I’m super f*ing cheap) we decided to go with the ol’ tow strap method… only issue was I blew a brake line on the way down the driveway. So by e-brake we went, with a battery in the passenger seat and jumper cables to the terminals for 4ways! (Dad pulling in his Silverado… picking up on a bow tie trend yet?)

Thank God, without ticket or scratch we made it to the shop!

What’s Next:

Next steps involve waking the beast (or puppy… it’s a 2.2 4 banger) then……… air bags with triangulated 4-link rear!!

Stay tuned… more boring bulls* to come!
